Gold River Aquafarms gets $50,000 boost from the government

“Gold River Aquafarms will be getting a big boost toward their final project, an ambitious $100 million dollar re-circulatory aquaculture system project built on a former pulp and paper mill through an investment by the B.C. Government. The money was given to the company late last month. Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation Minister of B.C., Brenda Bailey said that the $50,000 from the provincial government goes toward assessment and evaluation of the proposed site. Bailey was in Campbell River as part of a tour of North Island.”

Gold River Aquafarms aiming to break ground on B.C. salmon RAS in Q3

“Planning continues on a project that could provide a way forward for Canada’s land-based aquaculture industry. Gold River Aquafarms is seeking to build a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility on the site of a former sawmill in the village of Gold River, British Columbia, to produce steelhead trout. Company president Rob Walker said at full production, the facility will produce 3,000 metric tons of steelhead annually.”
