BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund Supports Gold River Aquafarms in Transforming Former Pulp and Paper Mill into Salmon-Rearing Facility
We are thrilled to share an exciting development from the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation. We have been awarded $50,000 in funding to transform the former pulp and paper mill warehouses that exist on the site into a state-of-the-art land-based salmon-rearing facility.
The government’s investment is part of the Province’s commitment to promoting local economies and creating sustainable jobs through the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund. Gold River Aquafarms is honoured to be recognized as a key contributor to the growth and diversification of the manufacturing sector on Vancouver Island. This financial support will enable us to assess the requirements to retrofit the warehouses and bring them to life as a modern salmon-rearing facility.
“Investments like the one into Gold River Aquafarms are working towards a more sustainable and diversified economy. These investments will create good local jobs and a more resilient community.” – Michele Babchuk, MLA North Island
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund and the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation for their support and confidence in our vision. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to sharing more good news with you soon.
